Betty Stone Hopkins

“OUR PRECIOUS JEWEL”

Middlesex-

Betty Stone Hopkins, the jewel in our family, church, and community went home to be with the Lord on August 10th, 2016. She was born on May 26th, 1927 to the late J.W. Stone and Lettie Cone Stone.  She was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend.  She lived every day as an example to all of us. As her grandson Chandler stated,  “she was the most genuine, selfless person I have ever had the privilege to know and love.” Anyone that knew her, also knew that she had the greatest love for our Lord and Savior.  We honor her for the sweet gifts she gave us daily, most importantly the gift of her unconditional love and for calling our names in prayer each and every day. To know her was to love her.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 loving years, Doliver Ray Hopkins; three sons in-law, Ronnie Whitley, Doug Whitley, and Billy Gay; grandson, Kevin D. Whitley; and great-granddaughter Ashlyn Brooke Poole whom she adored; Step-mother, Thelma Stone; brothers, Junius, John L., Carold, Eugene, Kennon, and Jimmy Dale Stone. She is survived by her children, JoAnne Whitley, Hannah Whitley, Helen (Steve “Knot”) Morgan, Phillip “Buster” (Sherri) Hopkins, Gayle Gay, Dale Hopkins, and Amy (Joey) Eddins; Grandchildren Rhonda (Wayne) Mace, Tammy (Brian) Bullock, Shannon (Jody) Bottoms, Sherri Gayle (Wayne) Waddell, Stevie Morgan, Bryan (Ashley) Hopkins, Amber (Erik) Brantley, Britt Gay, Chandler and Cameron Eddins; Great Grandchildren, Tyler Whitley, Lauren Waddell, Emilee Bullock, Logan Waddell, Ben Bullock, Isaiah and Abigayle Brantley. Also, her twelve sisters and eight brothers.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday August 13th, 2016 at The Middlesex Church of God Worship Center, 5407 S NC Hwy. 231, Middlesex NC, 27557. Her body will lie in state Saturday from 9:30am until time of service.

The Family will receive friends in the Worship Center following the burial service, which will be held at the Stone Family Cemetery.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials to the Middlesex Church of God Worship Center.

The Family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for all the outpouring of love and support.

“Her children arise up and call her blessed.”
