ALICE W. HORTON

Alice Ellsworth Wheeler Horton, 95, of Louisburg, passed away Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Horton was the daughter of the late John Hatch and Jessie Lee Ambrose Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Till Horton and her brother, Dan Wheeler.
Mama was smart! She was passed up early from one class to a higher class, several times in school. She knew her Bible. She could talk with any pastor about scripture.
Mama loved flowers, birds and DOGS especially. She said dogs were your best friend and then some.
She always raised a great vegetable garden especially tomatoes, with only a watering can, not irrigation. She would freeze and can the fruits of her labor.
She raised the most beautiful flowers, all types. She would cut the flowers and put them in a fruit jar with ice water.
She always ate healthy and read everything she could get her hands on and could remember what she had read. If we had a question about anything, we could just ask mama and she had the answer.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Ransdell Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service and other times at the home of Linda & James Stone.
